Indian fish in American waters is a refreshing portrayal of the cultural conflicts between ABCD’S and FOB’S. Don’t know what these acronyms stand for? Then dive into this tender love story that aims to bridge the gap between the fresh off the boat (FOB) desi with his weird Indian accent and the ABCD (American Born Confused Desi). Compassionate Desi who is probably more traditional than you think. |

This film is the quality of a film student project. Another NRI culture clash movie similar to American Desi, American Chai, etc. etc. This did have the redeeming quality of being slightly less stereotyped and realistic in the portrayal of the FOB and ABCD. The acting, the film work, all very amateur. The music is horrible, probably just done by friends of the director or something he got really cheap. You only need to see this if you are studying the sociology of immigrant culture or if you know someone who worked on the film. |
