" I do what I thinks is right. Even if it is against God or the people or the law or even the whole system" - says Sarkar
"Sarkar" is what the people respectfully call him! A name given by the people, may agree with from which , many have benefited. Subhash Nagare- the city's biggest power-center.
Sarkar is not about organized crime. It revolves around a patriach and his family, Subhash (Amithabh Bachan), his sons Shankar( Abhishek) and Vishnu (KK Menon).
Shankar and Vishnu have their own independent opinions. Vishnu, the elder son, takes his father's position of power for granted. While the Shankar, the younger son, has deeper insight into the mechanics of power play. He chooses, however, to stay out of his father's arena, and leads his own life.
Sarkar brings the edgiest names in Indian cinema together, Ram Gopal Verma directed film, starring the explosive combination of Amithabh and Abhishek Bachchan. |

I think I can safely say that any film in which Papa and Son Bachchan are involved or active main characters, you are in for a treat, hold onto your seat! I am ready to see the next installment. This film can be a good source of conversation concerning black and white or shades of gray- right and wrong, integrity. |

Sarkar is an inspiringly awesome remake of Hollywood blockbuster "The Godfather" with a spicy touch of Bollywood. The movie depicts "Sarkar" Subhas Nagre, who runs a parallel government and dispenses justice to the needy & poor. Among the vast masses, he builds respect for himself, but terror among others. Sarkar has certain principle in life and rates the crime far different from that of the legal system.
Amitabh Bachchan has delivered an impressive & gripping performance, which comes through his silent glances and muted gestures. Abhishek Bachchan on the lines of his father, has delivered his top performance. His expressions spoke much better than his dialogues, actions & the background. The director, Ram Gopal Varma, gives supporting actors prominent roles; all of them have delivered their best performances.
Kay Kay Menon makes a good position in front of Bachchan family. He is the "bad son" in a villainous role and shakes hand with his father's opponent. Supriya Pathak, as Amitabh wife, was given a small role. Katrina Kaif delivered huge disappoint by her bland, yet beautiful face. Tanisha looks good but failed to acquire a meaty role. Anupam Kher with his guest performance was adequate.
Worth a watch. |
