Ishwar (Amitabh Bachchan) and Sumi (Shefali Shah) both adore their only son, Aditya (Akshay Kumar), but with a difference. While Ishwar is totally blind to Adi's faults and indulges him; Sumi, well aware of her darling son's shortcomings is always cautioning her husband not to spoil Adi so much.
Having come up the hard way, Ishwar feels his son deserves nothing but the best and Adi shamelessly takes total advantage of his father's love for him.
As far as Ishwar is concerned, Adi can do no wrong and even when he elopes with the girl of his choice Pooja (Priyanka Chopra), the father forgives him readily.
Adi on his part has only one obsession - to become a star and is least interested in joining his father's successful toy business. Everything is going smoothly for Adi...Pooja is going to have a baby... everybody is excited and happy...Adi is busy training for his contest... when suddenly catastrophe strikes.
Aditya is thrown out of his luxurious house and forced to stay in a shabby outhouse.
Adi is puzzled and consoles himself that his father is playing some kind of a cruel joke. But his hurt turns to fury when he realizes that Ishwar and Sumi have no intention of relenting... their doors are shut...they don't give a damn what happens to him... Adi is desperate. There is no food to eat, no electricity...just bare walls and bare floors... and a pregnant and hungry Pooja...
It's a race against time...
For Adi. Will his hatred for his father spur him on?
For Ishwar. Will his will power overcome all hurdles?
For Sumi. Will her faith win in the long run?
For Pooja. Will her love conquer all odds? |

A Family Affair |
Sotaria |

The first half of this film is great as Akshay Kumar plays a spoiled son who dreams of bigger things. Priyanka Chopra plays his wife and Amitabh plays the father who, unknown to all, is dying. The film starts as a very enjoyable comedy, but the second half hits a nerve. The family is far far too mean to one another until all is made well at the end. Good film, but the second half was the weaker half and hurt my enjoyment of the movie. |

Waqt - The race against time is a good family entertainer that will appeal to every individual, mainly because it has somethig to store for everyone. Great acting by Big B and Akshay. Shefali plays her part with complete understanding. Boman Irani & Rajpal yadav was awsome. Priyanka is getting better. Overall it's nice movie to watch. |

Waqt’ is the story of a father who strives to teach and explain the meaning of responsibility to his son. Amitabh Bachchan is a rich businessman who has had the habit of fulfilling every whim of his only son Akshay Kumar. Shefali Shah - the mother does not approve of this, but Amitabh continues to do this. Amitabh later learns that he has lung cancer and is terminally ill and finally realizes that he needs to instruct his son to support himself and his wife, Priyanka Chopra, and their future child. The way he does this, and the affect on the father son relationship is what this film revolves around.
Amitabh Bachchan as the father steals the show from the first frame to the last. With his fabulous performance, he has again proved that he is a talented and gifted actor. Akshay Kumar also performs well, but not like his earlier performances. Priyanka Chopra is just there to add glamour, dance with a romantic touch. Although, her role doesn't give her much scope to perform but she still manages to do justice to whatever little she has been offered away from the main story line. Shefali Shah is a brilliant actress and very underrated one too. With the presence of two superstars, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, she also gives a fantastic performance and makes a position of her own. Her performance speaks volumes and emote the intensity of the character better than words. Boman Irani & Rajapl Yadav brings fun & comedy in the movie.
The plot of the film is old and predictable - seems to be an old cookie packaged in a new wrapper, but it still keeps you interested. Screenplay is the weakest link of the film. Dialogues are really well written and they are hard-hitting with enough space for improvement. The music is above average. Some of the songs like ’Chup Jaa’, ’Do me a favour - Let’s play Holi’ and ’Subah Hogi’ were unnecessarily inserted in the movie and does not fit with the main story.
Overall, Waqt is a decent waqt pass with family!! |

Except for a few tense scenes the movie was hilarious. The "This is nothing" contest is done beautifully. THe slow servant was humerous. Another hit by Amitabh and Akshay. Vipul Shah is done a terrific job of directing. The movie was smoothly edited and is showing the maturity of Bollywood as an industry. |
