In Shabd, Aishwarya Rai plays Antara, a college professor married to writer Shaukat, played by Sanjay Dutt. One day Antara meets Yash (Zayeed Khan), a spirited young man who is immediately drawn to Antara and makes no attempt to hide it. When Antara mentions this to her husband he is intrigued rather then angry and asks her to indulge the young man, hoping to use it as source material for his book. However, increasingly the writer Shaukat wants Yash out of the novel as much as the husband Shaukat wants him out of their lives and as fiction and fact start to blur a dangerous game is played by all. Shabd is a gripping and passionate psychological drama that is a must-see for all film fans. |

Sanjay Dutt was great in this movie. Visually, it was beautiful, at times intriguing and challenging, but mostly it was tedious. I was left wondering if it couldn't have been done a bit better. |

The movie leaves the audience along wondering several questions - Why was this movie made? Why would any one want to make this movie? What message the writer or director are trying to convey? And the last - Why did you watched this movie? The story is very wierd and there is not much flow in the boring story.
Sanjay Dutt would have done better by restricting himself to ’Bhai’ roles which suit his personality.
Zayed Khan with beard & moustache was a repulsive sight in the movie. He just tried to imitate Shahrukh Khan in every scene.
The only reason to watch this movie is Aishwarya Rai. The lady looks pretty as never before. She has acted well as a reluctantly interested lover, as a wife trying to deal with a difficult husband. But her efforts were ridiculously little to salvage the film.
Surely, One will get confused after watching this movie. |
