Extra Features
Amitabh Bachchan as Col. Sunil Damle: The man needs no introduction. Amitabh Bachchan got his biggest break with "Zanjeer", written by the exceptionally talented team of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. After that, any film of his that has has Javed Akhtar behind it has gone on to become a superhit, including the groundbreaking "Sholay", which sealed the superstar status of Amitabh Bachchan. The last film that they teamed up in was "Main Azaad Hoon". That was in 1989. Now, after 14 years, Javed Akhtar's reveting script has lured India's biggest superstar yet again. And judging by their past experiences together, this is definitely something to look forward to.
Hrithik Roshan as Karan Shergill: Currently one of the reigning superstars of the film industry, Hrithik and Farhan have known each other since their formative years. But, neither them nor anyone who watched them grow up could have imagined that one fine day, these two mischievous kids would be working together on a film!! They came close with Hrithik being offered a part in Dil Chahta Hai, but destiny really charts it's own course. The time has finally arrived, for this friendship to be translated on screen, with Hrithik in a never seen before role, in "Lakshya".
Preity Zinta as Romila Dutta: Always the consummate actress, Preity Zinta's dimpled beauty and amazing versatility won her almost instant recognition and critical acclaim in her debut film, Dil Se. With her entralling performances in "Dil Chahta Hai" and " Kal Ho Naa Ho", Preity outshines many of her contemporaries. Having worked with Farhan and Ritesh earlier in Excel Entertainment's first production "Dil Chahta Hai", the comfort level to work with the same team on another film is obviously pretty high. Bringing beauty and talent to the screen once again, Preity stars as the driving force behind the man she loves, and his ultimate Lakshya.

One of the best war films |

Undoubtedly the best war flick from Bollywood!!! Hrithik performance was A-1 and definitely at the top of his game. Overall LAKSHYA is a well made product Hrithik Roshan first showed with Koi... Mil Gaya that he can actually play a given character. With Lakshya he proves that his KMG performance was no flash in the pan. Pretty Zinta is adequate in her role as a television journalist.
Amitabh Bachchan looks a bit oddly cast in role of a field commander on the battlefront. But his Maharashtraian accent will certainly charm many viewers.
The dialogues in the movie are impactful without being over-dramatic. Writer Javed Akhtar, Farhaan’s father, deserves full credit for a gripping and believable story. On the other hand, music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is reminiscent of many famous tunes from the west. The trio composers are certainly not original in their compositions.
The movie shows the public what soldiers have to go through everyday of their lives. The film does keep you engrossed. This is definitely a movie to see, and one that will be well remembered as a turning point in Indian cinema! |
