Two of the deadliest enemies in the history of the world, India and Pakistan are on the verge of a landmark peace treaty. Things are changing. The two governments have organized a Goodwill cricket match at Sri Nagar as part of the events leading up to the treaty. Life is not so easy. Two terrorist organizations have issued threats to blow the stadium if match happens in Sri nagar. The security is therefore of the highest order.
The film opens with a blast in Sri nagar at a place close to the stadium. Pakistan withdraws from the match. The Indian public reacts strongly as they want the match to happen at any cost. Aparna Sen (Sonali Kulkarni) is a reporter who has the responsibility to cover this big event by traveling parallel with the team. The Indian Cricket Board still does cancel the three-day camp in Mumbai and expects the government to solve the matter with Pakistan. There is selection committee meeting to decide on the team for the match. In the meeting, an unknown player, Siddarth Srivastav (Alekh Sangal) with little experience is selected. The media captures the excitement and joy of Siddarth's family.
Siddarth is ragged, teased and finally be-friended in the camp. He learns a lot from his seniors. His best friend being Ivan Rodrigues (Tom Alter), the coach. On the last day of the camp a government official visits the team and convinces the captain(Salil Ankola) about something. The captain then calls the team for a meeting and asks them to take the match easily. He particularly asks them not to sledge or be harsh on the appeals. The team is shocked as they know that an India-Pakistan match can never be taken easily. As they expect, Pakistan immediately agrees to play.
The players suspect match fixing, but can talk about it. Siddarth braves all and tries to discuss the issue with the captain. The captain simply shuns him away. The team reaches Sri Nagar with an obvious fissure in the team. Inspector Victor Anthony(Arif Zakaria) is the man who is in the charge of the overall security of the match. He hates cricket, but has to do hid duty.
The finale is about the unraveling of the mysteries surrounding these main characters. Can Siddhartha justify his surprise selection? Has the captain fixed the match? Can Inspector Victor Anthony stop the terrorists? Can Aparna Sen come up with some surprise through her investigative journalism? Silence Please ... It's the dressing room |
