Pooja (Amisha Patel) is a naughty daughter of rich father. She is sharp in her studies and in mischief too. She enjoys singing, dancing and playing pranks on others along with her friends.
One day a new lecturer Suraj Chauhan (Ajay Devgan) comes to her college on a six months deputation. Youthful Suraj comes across as a person who is too serious and mature for his age. He has got his own way of understanding and dealing with his own life and also that of others.
The first meeting of Pooja and Suraj turns out to be quite an interesting one and Pooja starts loving Suraj in her own style. Suraj tries to make Pooja understand of its futility in his own way. But obsession of first love does not allow Pooja to think clearly and she barges ahead with full force into her reckless beliefs.
Seeing all his methods failing, Suraj deliberately introduces Pooja to Supriya Maheshwari (Mahima Chaudhary). Supriya is the love of Suraj and is prey to a very cruel fate. A very famous Bharatnatyam exponent once, she is today a paralytic. But Suraj is sure that one day due to his sheer love, will and encouragement he will be able to make Supriya all right once again.
After meeting Supriya, Pooja feels that she has been cheated of her love and she looses all her power to think and understand like a normal human being. When others try to pacify her she says, “One never sees anybody's horoscope, before falling in love. Love just happens. And like anyone else I just can't forget my first love”
A dangerous obsession starts burning in Pooja's heart. Finally how her obsession shatters the life of Suraj, the soul of Supriya and her own ego (Zameer) is what the film deals about. |

"Romance is in the air" - this is all what can be said. These days lovebirds are working together in films and this film is no exception.
The story revolves around Suraj (Ajay Devgan), who has a fiance (Supriya Maheshwari) Mahima Chaudhury. Supriya is disabled and Suraj is doing all he possibly can to cure her. The triangle completes with its third edge as Pooja (Amisha Patel), a prankster in the college, which houses Suraj as a guest lecturer for six months. Pooja sees the relationship of Suraj and Supriya as a threat, becomes jealous and eventually betrayed.
Ajay Devgan goes through his part without much effort. Amisha Patel, who doesn't look like a college student, could have worked harder and acted better would have made this movie much better then what it is right now. Mahima Chaudhury is the only one who convinces with her performance. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is wasted. Alok Nath is efficient in a small role. Shakti Kapoor is alright. Vivek Shauq provides some light moments.
This movie talks about the life of Suraj and the soul of Supriya in a very sensitive yet dangerous & colorful manner. The story is an original unpredictable plot with un-matching climax showing the power of love. |
