Boney Kapoor-produced Khushi is the story of two young people who love each other but cannot bring themselves to speak out their hearts to one another.
Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Khushi (Kareena Kapoor) are miles apart from each other. Karan is born in Calcutta while Khushi is born in a small village called Chamoli in Gadhwal, UP.
Both Karan and Khushi come from different family backgrounds. While Karan is a modern guy who aspires to go to Canada to pursue higher studies, Khushi hails from a conservative family.
Khushi’s father (Amrish Puri) holds the view that girls should not study too much and get married and settle in domesticity at a young age. He even starts looking for a prospective groom who would be willing to be a Ghar Jamai.
Going against her domineering father’s wishes, Khushi takes admission in a Mumbai college. On the other hand, Karan too is unable to go to Canada and takes admission in the same college in Mumbai.
At the college, Karan and Khushi get to know each other through common friends. Unlike other love stories it is not a case of love at first site for the two. The two develop a gradual intimacy while bringing together two of their love-struck friends together.
Their intimacy matures into love but none is willing to express his or her emotions. Not until the time comes when the two find themselves on crossroads where their ways go in different directions.
What will happen next? Will the two move beyond their inflated egos and accept love for each other. |
