A young couple (Tabu and Sanjay Suri) seem to have everything going for them - they’re good-looking, wealthy and successful. Their lives are shattered when the lady, Rewa (Tabu) discovers that she will never be able to conceive a child. Into their lives comes Siya (Sushmita Sen), a fashion photographer, a intuitive and intelligent woman, who describes herself as an emotional nomad. She agrees to lend her womb so that Rewa can experience the joy of motherhood ...
This unusual film, shot extensively in exotic locales in South Africa, marks Meghna Gulzar’s directorial debut. Expectations are being raised sky-high about this talented daughter of Raakhee and Gulzar, who has been assisting her father in Maachis and Hu Tu Tu. The film also stars Palash Sen (who was a member of the Indian Pop band ‘Euphoria’) and has a great soundtrack from Anu Malik including ‘Kyon Baar Baar’ and two songs sung by one of the stars, Palash Sen and ‘Le Chalen Doliyon’ sung by Roopkumar Rathod. |

It is an interesting movie. A little confusing initially with the flashbacks but once the movie settled it became interesting. The characters of Tabu and Sushmita Sen were long time friends and thus the whole concept of womb renting becomes more interesting as these two characters apparently know each other inside out but in such a situation they face a side to themselves which they are not aware of. The men were treated as superflous especially Sush's boyfriend whom she does not thtink important enough to even inform about the momentous decision she makes. Both the actresses did a good job in their roles which were author backed. Story could have been a little tighter. |
