Chehraa is a film which is depressing from start to finish. Do NOT expect a happy ending, but do expect lots of plot twists, including some rather off the wall twists. As a movie it is effective and Bipasha does a very good job in the film. The film will remind viewers of some American films, but I won't say which for fear of spoiling some of the twists. The biggest drawback is the pop psychology underpinnings which are cliche by now (and bad science as well). Nevertheless, the film is very effective if you like Bipasha, mystery, and a bit of a thriller. Do not expect a happy ending. |

Chehraa is another low budget suspense-thriller that has shades of a few other films in the genre. This film could’ve been better if it had a fast pace and some kind of proper storyline.
With so many twists and turns, this movie leaves you alone wondering about the point of this movie. There is no significance between what’s revealed in the last ten minutes and the rest of the story. One of the major flaw of the movie is the same old look-a-like theme that’s used hundreds of times in the Bollywood Cinema. The movies looses the grip of the viewers as it progresses.
"If only life were a book, I could turn back the pages," says protagonist Megha's voice-over after she crashes to her death. Alas, by then the plot too has gone her way - shattered into smithereens under the weight of its own improbabilities.
Overall, this movies can be watched, but not with kids for the "domestic violence" and few other violent scenes. |
