Suraj (Shatrughan Sinha) and Lala (Jeetendra) were once good friends who’ve been estranged by the machinations of Sundar (Tinnu Anand). Things come to such a pass that the friends now become bitter enemies, out to destroy each other. The city is torn apart by a gang war and the police find themselves at their wits’ end. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Prem Chopra in a great cameo) comes up with a brilliant idea, which he puts together with the help of a criminal psychologist (Anupam Kher). This involves getting Suraj’s son Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) to fall in love with Lala’s daughter Priya (Raveena Tandon), thus healing the breach between the two former friends. Good ultimately triumphs – and on the way, viewers get some great entertainment! Top-class music from Nadeem – Shravan, superbly choreographed dances, taut action-sequences and zany capers are packaged elegantly by Ramesh Sippy in this film which sees the coming together of some of the biggest names in the business. |
