Is infidelity ever excusable - that is the question raised in Bewafaa. Kareena Kapoor plays Anjali, the young, vibrant daughter of an Indian father and Canadian mother who moves to New Delhi to marry her older brother-in-law Aditya (Anil Kapoor) following the death of her sister. At the time she thinks she is doing the right thing as she can help raise her two nieces however in doing so she leaves behind her first love Raja, played by Akshay Kumar. Will she be able to live with the personal sacrifices she has made for the good of others or will her decision come back to haunt her? |

An easily forgettable film! |

This is another case of old wine repackaged in a new bottle. It is a clear-cut paste job of a 60s film replaced with contemporary actors. The result- a boring, unconvincing, and unemotional film. This kind of story appealed in the 60s and 70s. Director Dharmesh Darshan has completely lost his touch on this one. |

Not "unfaithful" to the audience !!! |

The film has a huge and a talented star cast, which left untapped to its full extent.
The scenes of Montreal, Canada were quite good. However, they have displayed the Canadian flag in every other scene as background like the director cannot find something else to fill up the walls.
The film revolves around Kareena Kapoor, who has done a fantastic job. She has shown the change in her character from a young, colorful and a bubbly girl to unfaithful housewife. Akshay Kumar looks like a joker in the film and needless to say that he acted like one. He has got the most horrendous get-up with a penchant of displaying crucifixes as pendants. He acts so bad that the audience laughed at his emotional climactic scenes instead of feeling pity for him. Anil Kapoor looks old in this movie and has failed to impress the audience. Sushmita Sen is just marvelous and dignified in her short role. She brings up the pre-interval portion of the movie immensely. Manoj Bajpai role didn't suit him that well. He should stick to his serious kind of roles, which he has done previously. Kabir Bedi and Nafisa Ali, as Kareena and Sushmita's parents, dance and sing "Shaka laka baby". Looks like the director cannot find better suiting scenes for them.
The songs are vital to a movie, where each song can serve a clearly identifiable purpose of the movie. This movie has few good songs, which can be watched more than one time.
Overall the movie can be watched. |
