They fall in love before they know what the word means -- Lolita, orphaned at an early age, and Shekhar, who reaches out and gives her the security she craves. They share joys and sorrows through childhood and adolescence, and unknown to them the relationship of an unspoken right they hold over each other meta morphs into a love so intense, they can't even sense it coming. It takes an outsider, Girish, for them to discover that there's something between them that's bigger than both of them. |

I love this movie and find it a good one to show to people that are unfamiliar with good Indian films. Saif is cute as the pouty spoiled rich boy with a kind heart. |

A Very classy and well-done job of a movie. The cinematography was quite rich, and the writing emotion-laden yet restrained. Salif Khan accomplished a lot in his acting, since his character was not all that sympathetic for two thirds of the film. But it was Sanjay Dutt who stoled the show for me, giving an excellent performance as an extremely sympathetic and noble second lead, and, in many ways, the real hero of this romance. Reminded me of a Merchant-Ivory period piece, but without much of the arch artiness and sometimes stiffness of character. |

Great movie, best of the year. It is somewhere between a formula and an art movie. So it makes a new Formula. Good plot, good acting, good overall. Raima Sen is terrific in it. Saif Ali Khan is maturing and Sanjay Dutt was a polished character for a change. |
