Social Satire |
Ram Kaushik |
|
An interesting movie along the lines of Govind Nihalani's "Party"! Trenchant social satire ridiculing the lifestyles of the rich and famous, as well as those of the celeb-crazy public! The press, police and other institutional organizations are not spared either. Konkana Sen shines in her portrayal of the slightly naive celeb-reporter - however her character's naivete seems incongruous amidst the worldly-wise and weary planet the rest of the characters live in. Others in the cast perform adequately, probably with the exception of Tara Sharma who is unconvincing. Direction and script are fairly tight without too many compromises with the exception of the inevitable item numbers. Nihalani's Party is probably more accomplished but this one is definitely worth a watch.. |

The life of celebrities - Hype & Hypocrisy!!! The movie has done full justice in covering up the presentable facets of their lives. The movie revolves around life & wife - "Life of celebrities and of journalists" & "wife of the multimillionaire barons".
Madhur Bhandarkar has crafted an extremely original and hard hitting piece on the hip and happening with a content that is different and courageous.
Konkana Sen (Madhavi Sharma) as a journalist undergoes the journey of covering page 3 of a leading newspaper with celebrities. The movie begins with a Gujarati NRI businessman hiring a PR agency to help him make it to the Page 3 of the tabloids. The movie is dotted with a variety of characters who drink and party in the evening. These guys & gals do not fail to liaison on even events like the funeral. They just get transported from one party to another between running around designers for voguish clothes, gossiping about others and posing for page 3. They are all glamour greedy and the richest has the power.
Page 3 is definitely the piece of cinema, which cannot be missed. |
