| Set in modern day India, Swades is a film that tackles the issues that development throws up on a grass root level. It is to this India, which is colorful, heterogeneous and complex that Mohan Bhargava (Shah Rukh Khan), a bright young scientist working as a project manager in NASA, returns to on a quest to find his childhood nanny. The film uses the contrast between the highly developed world of NASA, which has been at the forefront of advances in space research, and this world back home in India, which is at the crossroads of development. Mohan's simple quest becomes the journey that every one of us goes through in search of that metaphysical and elusive place called "home". |

Swades - A touch of class  |

Swades is well composed and gives more than a message to live honestly, performing duties. However, there is much more that can be done to help the society, the country or the mankind. Every Individual can make a difference and this film reminds that we are not an exception.
In this movie, Shahrukh Shahrukh Khan has done a pretty good job and the director has tapped his potential to the fullest extent. This is the movie where Shahrukh has stepped into the character of Mohan Bhargav not the vice-versa has usually happens with all other Shahrukh’s movies. Gayatri Joshi has looked so pretty in the movie specially in those Saree dressed scenes. She looks smart and acts confidentally in the movie.
The music is simple, melodious and sounds like a mixture of Indian and western music.
Overall, Swades is a movie that MUST be seen. |

| Good drama. An honest attempt by the director to try something which is not a typical bollywood masala flick. Recommended to be seen on a strech without any pauses. |

Swades has an interesting premise, however in my view a little too optimistic. I do not think even a great scientist can change a village in India in a short time. The fact is that we get touched very deeply by the harsh realities of Life in India. And the movie depicts a Universal Truth that all too often we just ignore. Many more of the people that have everything in abundance should be more concerned and giving back more to their less fortunate communities. After all it is only the more fortunate that can make the difference. However, I just do not think that it is as easy as the film shows. I am sure there would be political hurdles to overcome (this is the unfortunate fact of life)
AS for the Movie, I did enjoy the acting of Shah Rukh Khan. He has very good screen presence. He carries almost the entire movie. The Musical sequences by AR Rehman are definitely great. I did enjoy the Romance. It deals very honestly with our desires and makes a point about the priorities we have(or maybe should have and forgot). I do recommend this movie; it evokes patriotic feelings, and is a “feel good” movie. I am sure many will shed tears of joy.

| Swades is a good drama movie. Though this is 3 hr 15 minutes long but its not boring. Good music and well paced made this movies worth watching. Not forgeting the acting . |
