The Family of Dilip Singh and Devki and son Jai had seen good days. But fate takes a turn on them and they see their bad days where Dilip starts driving a taxi and Devki teaches music. In one incident, Dilip was killed saving the life of Seth Kedarnath (Saeed Jaffrey) and the murderers plotted and killed Devki too. Young Jai is left alone. He comes to Bombay - the City of Dreams where it doesn't take time for the most innocent and simple person to become smart..... this is what happened to Jai. He gets friendly to Teku and his son Tunu and the three of them lived a happy life by being small time crooks. To make it big they come across a consignmebt of gold belonging to a smuggler Garga, this consignment gets them in trouble.
Jai is still on the run and is being chased by law in Delhi. He finds himself in the house of Kedarnath. He was the same Kedarnath because of whom his parents died. Kedarnath had a son, his wife and their beautiful daughter Jyoti (Mamta). This family was expecting Rakesh and Jai cleverly meets the real Rakesh and sends him back to USA. Soon he's joined by Teku and Tunu and they decide to make it big by laying a trap for Jyoti who would fall in love with Jai and they would get plenty of money by her family in return. But he lands up doing things, which were considered impossible. Eventually Jai and Mamta fall in love and her family gets to know the hidden truth about the trap where he made her fall in love with him. And he's thrown out and is on the roads again. But he rises from the ashes and fights his way bringing out the killer of his mother and saving the honour and wealth of the family by destroying the evil plans of the bloodsuckers who had thrived so long and thus proved that Love is the 'greatest' truth. |
