"Kyun! Ho Gaya Na.." is a situational romantic comedy
Diya Malhotra (played by Asihwarya Rai) is an idealistic, sensitive girl whose childhood was spent in the coffee plantation town of Coorg. Malhotra (Played by Tinnu Anand) single - handedly brought up Diya, after his wife passed away.
Malhotra has a dear friend Raj Chauhan (Uncle played by Amitabh Bachchan), a confirmed bachelor who has dedicated his life to a small orphanage he has in his home. Diya has been involved with the work exam she comes to Mumbai.
In unusual circumstances, she meets Arjun Khanna (played by Vivek Oberoi). Arjun is a seemingly free spirited, fun loving, adventurous guy. Once she arrives in Mumbai they realize that they will be staying in the same house since Arjun's parents (Played by Om Puri & Rati Agnihotri) are friends of Malhotra's.
The friendship that develops between Diya and Arjun and consequently their opposing views on love and marriage are at the heart of the film.
It is a simple story about love and life. |

Amitabh Bachchan saves this otherwise average romantic comedy. He runs an orphanage and yet he is the most childlike of all. He uses his wile to restore the relationship of Aishwarya and Vivek. The second half is the stronger half. Three stars. |

Good movie to watch with kids young or old. The ultimate joke was a little cruel tho, but he deserved it. Amitabh does it again. |

The trials of love and arranged marriage get a lively update in this richly comic Bollywood romance. Aishwarya Rai plays Diya, a university student who refuses to be locked into an arranged marriage. Real-life boyfriend Vivek Oberoi plays Arjun, a layabout rich kid who claims that the words "love" and "defeat" aren't in his vocabulary. A joker not a lover, Arjun's blind to Diya's charms.
Amitabh Bachchan is extremely likeable. Suniel Shetty is passable. Dia Mirza is there for just one scene. Om Puri and Rati Agnihotri are commendable. Tinnu Anand is adequate.
With the gorgeous Rai - described by Julia Roberts as "the world's most beautiful woman" - proving her status as one of Bollywood's finest actresses, the movie "Kyun! Ho Gaya Na ..." is very light, entertaining and can be watched with family. |
