Episodes 67 to 72
Vidur submits his resignation to Dhritarashtra as he is depressed by the inevitable war. Kunti is worried. She visits Karna and tells him the truth about his birth. Karna lets her know that he knew it much before and is happy to have his mother by his side. Kunti pleads with him to join the Pandavas, but he says, "I must fight with Arjun, I cannot abandon my promise to Duryodhan." Krishna reaches Upaplavya and informs Pandavas that his attempt for peace has failed. The Pandavas prepare for battle. Yudhishthir holds a meeting and Dhristadyumna, Draupadi's brother, is appointed Supreme Commander of the Pandav army. Drupad, Shikandi, Bheem and the other prominent warriors take command of the various divisions. The stage is set for Kurukshetra. Vyas visits Dhritarashtra and offers to bestow divine eyesight unto him, but he is reluctant to see the destruction of his sons. Vyas grants divine eyesight to Sanjay, Dhritarashtra's charioteer. All the warriors except Balram and Rukhmi (Rukhmani's brother) move towards the battlefield. Duryodhan tricks Salya into joining the Kaurava army. Salya's blessings are with the Pandavas still. Gandhari wants to seek Krishna's help in protecting her sons, but Dhritarashtra stops her.
Shikandi, who was Amba in his previous life, is anxious about the war, as he wants to fight Bhishma. Bhishma had insulted Amba by refusing to marry her. Amba hence was reborn as Shikhandi, the elder brother of Draupadi. Krishna asks Arjun to seek Goddess Durga's blessings for winning the war. Arjun prays to the Goddess. The goddess replies, "Wherever there is righteousness there is Krishna, and wherever there is Krishna, there is Victory" Krishna drives Arjun to the middle of the battlefield in his chariot. On seeing the men on the battlefield, Arjun suggests to Krishna that he'd rather prefer to be a beggar than lose his kin for a throne. Krishna's teachings to Arjun at the battlefield form the basis of the "BHAGAWAD-GITA" |
