Krishna grows up in care of Yashoda while his parents are still jailed. Krishna's divine sports make him the darling of his friends. To everyone's amazement he kills Kalia the serpent king who lived in the river Yamuna. Krishna grows up into a young lad stealing the hearts of the young "Gopis" instead of butter now. Radha is one such "Gopini" who has lost her heart to him. Also, Krishna encourages the habitants of Nandgaon to stop sending butter, as a levy, to Kans, the ruler of Mathura. Kans feels slighted that someone has defied him. Kans tries to subdue Krishna unsuccessfully. This volume covers two major parts of divine sports - one, saving of Nandgaon by lifting the Goverdhan mountain and the other "Maharass" in which Shri Krishna creates the illusion among the dancing Gopis, each one thinks that he is dancing with her alone. Meanwhile, Kans tricks Vasudev's friend Arjun into inviting Krishna to Mathura to kill him.
Krishna's departs from Nandgaon for Mathura. Kans, who had plans to kill him, is killed instead. Shri Krishna releases King Ugrasen and his parents Devki and Vasudev. People of Mathura rejoice and celebrate the coronation of King Ugrasen. Krishna goes to Sandeepani Gurukul for his education. The Pandavas grow up to recieve their education in the forest. Pandu dies in the forest and Kunti returns to Hastinapur with her children. |
