Julie (Lakshmi) is an Anglo-Indian girl who lives with her close-knit family, consisting of her parents (Om Prakash and Nadira), brother (Jalal Agha) and younger sister (Sridevi). Their social traditions are very different from the people who live around them, because they are a blend of Indian and Western values. When Julie falls in love with a high-caste Hindu boy (Vikram), his family completely opposes the match. How love overcomes all obstacles and how both families realize the essential goodness of human beings, forms the plot of this romantic drama. Rajesh Roshan’s soundtrack includes ‘Dil Kya Kare Jab Kisi Se’ and ‘Yeh Raatein Nayi Purani’. |

Laxmi in the title role breathes life in to the character of Julie. She sensitively portrays the emotions of a girl who falls in love at a young age and is prepared to pay any price for it.
The music by Rajesh Roshan is the strongest point of the film. Even after a quarter of a century, many of the tracks remain memorable like
Dil kya kare jab ……..
My heart is beating ……… |
