New York" is a contemporary story of friendship set against the larger than life backdrop of a city often described as the centre of the world. For most of us, larger events in the world are just headlines in the newspapers but these events can change our lives... forever. "New York" is one such story of 3 young friends whose beautiful lives are turned upside down by larger events beyond their control.

Enjoyable 3 Star NewHampshireFan

The direction and technical aspects of New York are terrific, and the first half is tight and fast-paced. Irrfan Khan is fantastic and is allowed one little joke, when he accuses a colleague of "overacting." In contrast, Abraham and Kaif, while they do good work, show us one-dimensional characters with a simple motivation and narrow range of emotion. Even so they are gorgeous so I find them entirely watchable. Mukesh can't support the movie as the protagonist, but this could be a weakness of the script--we never find out anything about his character. As others have said there are a few holes in the plot, and there are enough factual inconsistencies that the second half becomes sloppy, geographically challenged (apparently Philadelphia is a New York borough in this movie), melodramatic, and ultimately unbelievable. If you want to see a movie on terrorism, rent "A Wednesday" or "Mumbai Meri Jaan." In sum, the first half is great and the second half is worth watching.

Bad Propaganda 1 Star Sotaria

Whatever your political opinions may be, the fact remains that this film is based on internet myths and lies. That the filmmaker doesn't even know the difference in the CIA and the FBI is NOT a mere technicality but destroy his whole film. The FBI has NEVER even been accused of torture, nor were the 1200 arrest after 9-11 denied lawyers. They were almost all convicted for plotting to murder thousands. Consider also that the "hero" of this film is a terrorist who dies a martyrs death!!! Ohhhh, it is the evil American's fault!! Yet another typical example of claiming to promote tolerance even while spreading lies about another country.

Dramatic 3 Star bollywoodfan

It was an ok movie. too little too late. Nice direction though.

Aditya could have done better 3 Star BJ

The feeling displayed in this movie is nothing new, and here to stay eternally. There is always two sides of the story. Well, good actors can save a bad story.
