Movie started off well..but last hour is so-so. the past story of the house does not make much sense and climax is also a letdown. |

A Bollywood version of the exorcist enhanced by the 1920s setting and cinematography. It is gory and violent, as you would expect. It is also fairly effective, but not for children or those who do not enjoy horror. |

This movie and the film "Bhoot"(2003) have similar themes. Both films pit the idea that human reason and science are the ultimate explanation for things against the idea that evil and the supernatual is a reality. I think "Bhoot" did a much better work of using subtle effects to set the climate of a ghost story. I also had a difficult time believing that a husband would dismiss a wife's claim to have heard strange noises upstairs without even a cursery investigation(and I'm usually pretty forgiving in such matters). There is enough hocus pocus, though, to keep one interested in the story. A watchable film in this genre, but far from the best. |
