1st half movie.
Set in the 16th century, this epic romance begins as a marriage of alliance between two cultures and religions for political gain. King Bharmal of Amer gives his daughter's hand to Emperor Akbar. When Akbar accepts the marriage proposal, little does he know that in his efforts to strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking on a new journey--the journey of true love. From the battlefield where the young Jalaluddin was crowned to the conquests that won him the title of Akbar the Great, Jodhaa Akbar traces the impressive graph of the mighty emperor and his romance with the defiant princess. |

only complaint. They deleted the scenes of Birbal, which I think were probably the best. We grew up reading Akbar Birbal stories and missed that in the dvd. Those scenes are in the special 3rd disc. Must see movie. Ironic that Elizabeth I and Akbar ruled during the same time and both had the golden time in thier respective countries. Both their times were slightly after the time that Columbus landed in America and obviously Europe was aware of the fortunes in India. However both regions also had their shares of wars and quabbles. |
